Project Scope
Exhibition Design Hong Kong: BODW x HKPolyU Showcase by Kiss-design.co . Exhibition design Hong Kong project for Business of Design Week (BODW), Asia’s leading annual event on design, innovation, and branding. Organized by Hong Kong Design Centre, BODW brings together global design leaders and business innovators. For this edition, the School of Design at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (HKPolyU)—ranked #1 in Hong Kong—presented its academic programs, research initiatives, and student projects.
Kiss-design.co was commissioned to design the exhibition space representing HKPolyU’s School of Design.
The exhibition aimed to showcase HKPolyU’s design education offerings, including BA and Master’s programs, research centers, and student-led projects. The space needed to accommodate high visitor traffic, support multimedia presentations, and maintain a cohesive visual identity across multiple zones.
Design Concept
The concept centered around a black-and-white palette, chosen for its ability to unify diverse content while creating visual depth and contrast. Black was used to anchor the space and convey professionalism, while white introduced openness and clarity.
Key design elements included:
- Modular display panels for student work and research highlights
- Typography-led signage for academic program details
- Ambient lighting to soften the monochrome palette
- Interactive zones for video presentations and live demos
Execution
- Materials: Matte-finished display walls, sustainable modular furniture, and digital screens
- Layout: Optimized for accessibility and smooth visitor flow
- Integration: Multimedia content embedded into the structure for seamless storytelling
- Coordination: Worked closely with HKPolyU faculty and student teams to align content and visuals
Institutional Context
HKPolyU’s School of Design is known for its interdisciplinary approach and global partnerships. The exhibition reflected this by combining academic rigor with creative expression. Each zone was designed to highlight a specific aspect of the school’s offerings—from undergraduate programs to advanced research labs.
